Krassimir Terziev is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work spans a diversity of media, including video/film, photography, painting/drawing, and text, questioning the boundaries between reality and fiction, while exploring the manifold transitions and tensions between a globalized world, dominated by overwhelming multiplicity of symbolic imagery, and its material groundings in technological, physical and human ‘hardware’.

He holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Sofia University (2012) and an MA degree in Painting from the National Academy of Arts, Sofia (1997), lecturing in both institutions since 2012.

His work was shown internationally at museums, festivals and galleries as: Museum of Contemporary Art (MuHKA), Antwerp; Kunsthalle Budapest (Mucsarnok); Generali Foundation, Vienna, Akademie der Kunste, Berlin; TATE Modern, London, Institute of Contemporary Art, Sofia; Moderna Galerija  Ljubljana; the National Gallery, Sofia; Württembergischer Kunstverein, Stuttgart, Argos Centre for Art & Media, Brussels; Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow; Sofia City Art Gallery, Sofia; 3rd Mardin Biennial, Turkey; Cineteca of Madrid; Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; SALT Beyoğlu, Istanbul; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Renaissance Society, Chicago, The Kitchen, New York, Kunsthalle Vienna/Project Space.

Besides his artistic work, he is the author of the academic monograph Re-composition. Author, Media and Artwork in the Age of Digital Reproduction (2012, “East-West” & ICA-Sofia).

He has been an artist in residence at KulturKontakt, Vienna, Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart, Visual Seminar, ICA-Sofia & Centre for Advanced Studies, Sofia, Artslink, New York. In 2011 he received the Award for Contemporary Bulgarian Art Unlimited, and in 2007 - Gaudenz Ruf Award for New Bulgarian Art.
